The Movie:

John and Laura Taylor (Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall) are a young, professional couple who desperately want a baby. After exhausting all other options, they finally hire Anna (Jaz Sinclair), the perfect woman to be their surrogate – but as she gets further along in her pregnancy, so too does her psychotic and dangerous fixation on the husband. The couple becomes caught up in Anna’s deadly game and must fight to regain control of their future before it’s too late.

This movie is pretty much a recycled version of “The Hand That Rocks The Cradle”, “The Crush” and “Fatal Attraction” all rolled into one film. Even before you see the film you already pretty much know how it’s going to play out. That was something I had to look past and concentrate on the performance of the actors instead. Hall was really great in the film and you can easily see how she’s improved as an actress but I do feel like she didn’t get enough to do. The majority of the time all she did was sit in the background and be the stereotypical victim. I think she deserved a whole lot more to do. Sinclair surprised me immensely. Her ability to go from zero to psycho was pretty damn good. What surprised me even more was that she didn’t have much of a filmography. If she keeps working at that level then she’ll definitely have a long career. The MVP here is without a doubt Chestnut. He had the best scenes with both actresses and throughout the film he consistently came out looking like a hero. I’ll be honest, I really wasn’t a huge fan of Chestnut but his performance here may make me start looking for more of his films in the future. Like I said before, the movie was EXTREMELY predictable but it was actually kinda fun in a Lifetime movie sort of way. If that’s seems to be your cup of tea then give it a watch. 6/10

Special Features:

Deleted And Extended Scenes – 9 scenes here that are okay to check out but don’t really offer too much more.

The Haves And Have Nots – Basically a quick run through of the film. It includes plot, characters and more on the performances of the actors involved.

Audio Commentary With Director Jon Cassar, Writer Jack Olsen & Actress Jaz Sinclair
