Season Overview:

Danny McBride and Walton Goggins star as the school vice principals, who are in an epic power struggle, vying for the top spot: to be school principal. But when new rival Dr. Belinda Brown (Kimberly Hebert Gregory) enters the picture, these bitter antagonists must form an unholy alliance to bring down the outsider by any means necessary.

McBride is back with another interesting show and I have to say that it’s pretty great. If you loved The Foot Fist Way and Eastbound & Down then there’s an extremely good chance that you’re going to love this show. To sum the show up in a short sentence it’s: Kenny Powers takes a job as vice principal. Simple as that really. The same attitude and humor is there and it did a great job at injecting a bit of drama in certain moments as well. I think that was just as important as the comedy because it allows the audience to connect with such a crass character on a different level. The plot to the show is simple yet very effective with two guys teaming up to bring down someone else but that’s where all the comedy comes in. It almost feels somewhat like Horrible Bosses but with us rooting for the jerks instead. McBride knows what works and he does it well alongside Goggins and his fantastic comedic timing. The verbal sparring that each of them get into is so much fun to watch and it’s just as much fun to see who gets in the last word. If you’re a fan of McBride and his brand of comedy and/or are a high school educator then without a doubt you WILL love Vice Principals. Definitely worth checking out! 8/10

Special Features:

Vice Principals: Season 1 Behind the Scenes Featurette – McBride and Goggins talk a bit about their roles in the show and some of their experiences.
