Amidst a bloody backdrop of chaos and carnage, one panicked, lowly survivor of the Monster Apocalypse takes shelter in a movie theater to buy himself a few extra moments of precious life. Little does he know, he’s taken a flying leap out of the frying pan and smack dab into the fires of hell by attending the last movie marathon he’ll ever see.

I have made it extremely well known how much I love horror anthologies so without a doubt I was excited to watch this. The gamble when watching these kinds of movies however is the chance that they could be really terrible. In all honesty this ended up being 50/50. Sure, it is a gamble BUT it also allows for a better chance of getting to see some really cool shorts as well. Some of my favorites include “Hag” which has to do with sleep paralysis and “Curiosity Kills” which reminded me of a live action cartoon. The wraparound story in the film was pretty stale to me and I felt like it didn’t need to be there. There wasn’t much to it other than just a 20 second transition into the next story. If you are a fan of horror anthologies then you’ll definitely want to pick this up even if you’re just curious as to what craziness will come from it. 6/10

Monsterland is available NOW on DVD from RLJ Entertainment
