It’s been several months since the team took down Henry in Hong Kong, and change is afoot. Auggie (Christopher Gorham) is back at the DPD, Arthur (Peter Gallagher) is offered a job in the private sector working for McQuaid Security, and Joan (Kari Matchett) is returning from maternity leave to find that she’s been passed over for the job of DCS in favor of Calder (Hill Harper). And after mysteriously going off the grid for months, Annie (Piper Perabo) has resurfaced, anxious to get back to work at the CIA and harboring a secret that could jeopardize everything. Sent to Chicago to investigate a purported terror plot, she soon discovers that the threat is very real, and much greater than anyone has anticipated. As a result, Annie finds herself swept into an international mission that will take her from Venezuela to Argentina to France and many points in between. Along the way, she’ll continue to cross paths with Arthur’s new boss, Ryan McQuaid (Nic Bishop), a charismatic Navy SEAL-turned-CEO with his own ties to the terrorist—and his own secrets.

It took me just a bit to review this title because I have to admit that I had never seen the show before so I did the only thing I could think of and BINGEWATCH EVERY SEASON. It took me a little while but I did it and the only thing that sucks about it all was that I really started to like the show and it turns out this is the final season. It seems just like yesterday that I was seeing promos for the premiere of the series. After seeing the previous seasons I thought that this final entry did a great job at tying up loose ends and finalizing things while at the same time leaving it a tad bit open ended. Probably in hopes that it would get picked up by Netflix or some other streaming service. Sadly I don’t think that’s going to be the case but it wasn’t left too open ended. Everything that led up to the end did feel final so that was one thing that I did appreciate. Season four kind of dwindled a bit for various reasons but this season definitely makes up for any low points that the series had. It was solid and that’s all that you can ask for when it comes to a shows’ farewell. If you’re like me and hadn’t seen the show at all then I really do suggest to pick up the series as soon as you can. 8/10

Special Features:

Deleted Scenes – Cut scenes from throughout the season. Most of these were pretty slow so I’m glad they cut them.

Gag Reel – I love these features. This looks like the cast had a lot of fun and laughs making the show.

Covert Affairs: Season Five is available NOW on DVD from Universal Studios Home Entertainment
