Tucker and Dale vs Evil: Review

This is one of those movies that you come across late night on a Friday while browsing Netflix and say to yourself  “Self, this looks pretty interesting. We should watch this” (This is exactly what happened to me and no I’m not crazy). TDvE stars Tyler Labine (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) as Tucker and Alan Tudyk (Dodgeball) as Dale – Two fun-loving hillbillies that just bought a cabin in the woods to transform it into their dream vacation getaway. A stereotypical group of partying college kids decide to take a trip to the lake and run into Tucker and Dale in a General Store while stopping off to grab beer.  This movie takes the idea of “Judging a book by its cover” to a totally different extreme while keeping the humor and horror aspect. The college kids decide to go skinny-dipping one night in the same vicinity as where Tucker and Dale are fishing. When a girl named Allison (Katrina Bowden) strays off and knocks herself out after diving into the lake, Tucker and Dale jump into action and save her by pulling her from the water and into their boat. All the group of college kids see is two hillbillies (that look like serial killers)  taking their friend away and that’s when it all goes downhill. They attempt to get their friend back with very disastrous results. I was very skeptical about this one but TDvE is a really fun horror/comedy movie that brings blood and gore along with good ol’ slapstick hijinks. I found myself laughing out loud at a few parts and let me say, I’ll never go near a wood chipper again. This is a must watch!
