Top 10 Stoner Movies To Watch On 4/20

The day 4/20 has been celebrated by stoners everywhere for a good while now so to go with the occasion I figured we would run down the top 10 stoner films for people to enjoy. So go grab a bowl, pour some Lucky Charms in it and check out the list.

10. How High

Multi-platinum rap superstars Redman and Method Man star as Jamal and Silas, two regular guys who smoke something magical, ace their college entrance exams and wind up at Harvard. Ivy League ways are strange but Silas and Jamal take it in a stride — until their supply of supernatural smoke runs dry. That’s when they have to start living by their wits and rely on their natural resources to make the grade.

9. Half Baked
When a member of their crew gets arrested for killing a New York City police horse by feeding it junk food, three slackin’ stoners are forced to get off their butts and raise bail by selling pot stolen from a pharmaceutical lab. It’s a risky plan but, hey, these are stand-up guys who would do anything to help out a friend in need.
8. Grandma’s Boy
When he and his roommate can’t pay their rent, video game creator Alex finds himself homeless and moves in with Lilly, his wacky grandmother. Lilly and her elderly pals like to hang out in front of the television all day, but their constant presence puts a damper on Alex’s social life and pot smoking. Alex wants to court co-worker Samantha, but he’s preoccupied by a rivalry with another game designer, so the would-be relationship is in limbo.
7. Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back
When Jay and Silent Bob learn that a “Bluntman and Chronic” movie is being made featuring their comic book counterparts, they drool at the thought of fat movie checks rolling in. But when the pair find that there won’t be any royalties coming their way, they set out to sabotage the flick at all costs.
6. Super High Me
Comic Doug Benson conducts an experiment in which he abstains from marijuana use for 30 days, then smokes it continually for 30 more.
5. Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle
Nerdy accountant Harold and his irrepressible friend, Kumar, get stoned watching television and find themselves utterly bewitched by a commercial for White Castle. Convinced there must be one nearby, the two set out on a late-night odyssey that takes them deep into New Jersey. Somehow, the boys manage to run afoul of rednecks, cops and even a car-stealing Neil Patrick Harris before getting anywhere near their beloved sliders.
4. Dazed And Confused
This coming-of-age film follows the mayhem of group of rowdy teenagers in Austin, Texas, celebrating the last day of high school in 1976. The graduating class heads for a popular pool hall and joins an impromptu keg party, however star football player Randall “Pink” Floyd has promised to focus on the championship game and abstain from partying.
3. Pineapple Express
Stoner Dale Denton’s enjoyment of a rare strain of marijuana may prove fatal when he drops his roach in a panic after witnessing a murder. Upon learning that the fancy weed can be traced back to them, Dale and his dealer go on the lam, with a dangerous drug lord and crooked cop hot on their heels.
2. Friday
It’s Friday and Craig Jones has just gotten fired for stealing cardboard boxes. To make matters worse, rent is due, he hates his overbearing girlfriend, Joi, and his best friend, Smokey, owes the local drug dealer money — and that’s all before lunch. As the hours drag on, Jones and Smokey experience the gamut of urban life, complete with crackheads, shoot-outs and overly sexual pastors, concentrated into one single, unbelievable Friday.
1. Cheech And Chong’s Up In Smoke
An unemployed pot-smoking slacker and amateur drummer, Anthony Stoner ditches his strict parents and hits the road, eventually meeting kindred spirit Pedro de Pacas. While the drug-ingesting duo is soon arrested for possession of marijuana, Anthony and Pedro get released on a technicality, allowing them to continue their many misadventures and ultimately compete in a rock band contest.
As a bonus I’ll include a 4/20 inspired music video that I directed and edited (yeah, I do that stuff too 🙂 ) by a rap group known as the CB Kings
