The Movie:

When the love of his life (Shannon Woodward) jilts Nadro (Thomas Middleditch) at the altar thanks to his hard-partying pals Jason (T.J. Miller) and Evan (Adam Pally), he follows her down to Mexico – where he’s carjacked and left naked in the middle of nowhere. Reluctantly summoning his friends to help him get back his runaway bride-to-be, Nadro plunges into an escalating series of outrageous misadventures courtesy of the guys who created the mess in the first place.

I’m a pretty big fan of the stars of the film so naturally you would think that this would be an easy watch……and you would be right. Although the plot feels a whole lot like movies we’ve seen before (like Road Trip mixed in with The Hangover) it still is really enjoyable. Middleditch is hilarious and manages to get some of the best gags throughout the film including him jumping through the air onto a moving truck completely butt naked. Miller kind of plays the same character that he plays on Silicon Valley where he plays a stoner but gives that little bit of a punch to every joke. Both Middleditch and Miller together in one movie already give it a step up from every other buddy comedy out there and there’s no way that you won’t laugh. Pally is a guy that I admit wasn’t too aware of but I thought he was great as well. He pretty much played the straight laced guy in the movie but by the third act he was making just as many weird and awkward decisions as the other characters. By the end he was such a funny and weird character that I wanted to see more of his side of things. Is this the ideal and perfect comedy? No, but it is a really good way to pass the time if you’re looking for a quick laugh. 8/10

Search Party is available July 5th on Blu-ray and DVD from Universal Studios Home Entertainment
