When an overbearing CEO (Jennifer Aniston) decides to close her hard-partying brother’s failing branch, he (T.J. Miller) and his fired up co-workers (Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn, Kate McKinnon) decide to throw an epic office party to land a big shot client and save everyone’s jobs. Fueled by booze and bad decisions, things quickly spiral out-of-control in one of the craziest nights of their lives.
In one of the biggest surprises to me, I actually really loved this film. I will be fully transparent and say that it does have a predictable plot and you can kind of see where the film is going but that’s not what made the movie great. What made the movie was the unbelievably funny cast of characters. My favorite thing about Bateman is his ability to just spit sarcasm like nobody’s business. Munn’s character was just as hilarious and quick witted AND she was a programmer which you never see an attractive female in roles like that. Miller is……well he’s Miller and it always feels like he plays the loose cannon and you don’t know what to expect but that’s the best part about him. Then there’s McKinnon that always cracks me up because she’s so awkward and really gets into every character she plays. The film does really count a lot on the crude humor that you would expect and normally with films like that it usually takes me a while to start getting into it but it must’ve caught me on the perfect day because I laughed from beginning to end so easily. If you like any other movies from any one of the cast members then this one will be a no brainer and you’ll have to pick this up. 6/10
Throwing an Office Christmas Party Featurette – This a nice feature that glazes over so many topics from story ideas, improvisation, casting, characters and a whole lot more.
Deleted & Extended Scenes – A really good amount of scenes included as well as an Alternate Ending.
Outtakes – There are a whole lot of outtakes here and as you would expect, it’s pretty hilarious.
