The Movie:

Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) and his family are heading to Miami for the holidays, only this time he accidentally ends up on an airplane bound for New York City. After making new friends, Kevin quickly learns that the city isn’t as big as he first thought, running into his old nemesis “The Wet Bandits” who have escaped from jail to plan a major heist and exact revenge on the precocious prankster. Up for the challenge and armed with a new bag of tricks, Kevin uses his smarts and ingenuity to once again foil the hapless criminals.

The first two Home Alone movies are holiday staples in the my home every year BUT this sequel is definitely a favorite of my son and I. What kid that was in Kevin’s situation wouldn’t wish that he or she had a bunch of money to spend on whatever they wanted in a random city. The hi-jinks that ensue are fantastic and so entertaining and the gags in the final act are cranked up quite a bit from the first film. Along with the comedy comes the heart of the story and that’s with the fact that even though Kevin is having so much fun he still misses his family. Those are the moments that tug at the heartstrings and make you snap back to reality that he’s just a little boy lost in a very scary city. This movie pretty much has everything you’d want in a holiday film and it’s perfect to pop in for a family movie night. 9/10
