Season Overview:

Hannibal continues its second season with Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) locked in a mental asylum, accused of Hannibal Lecter’s (Mads Mikkelsen) crimes. Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) is dealing with his own feelings about Will, and whether his protégé is in fact a cold-blooded killer. With Will locked up, Hannibal becomes Jack’s new consultant on cases. The deadly dance between these characters continues to turn in startling and unexpected ways, in a season that will show nothing can ever be the same again.

I don’t know how but I seemed to have missed the boat on this show. Usually I’m a bit skeptical when it comes to adapting films into TV shows but this one seemed very dark just like its theatrical counterparts and that got me interested. After watching two episodes I knew that this was my cup of tea. One way to describe this show would be disgustingly beautiful. Why you ask? There is so much murder and death throughout yet they way they present the scenes and the way some of the murder scenes are constructed are done in way that they look like works of art. A lot of that comes from who Hannibal Lecter is and I’m glad that they kept that sense of “high society” about him. I feel like they did a phenomenal job at staying true to the stories and although it’s not True Detective it’s pretty close to the feel of that show all the way down to the visuals and imagery yet the only thing is this show is on network TV and not a cable channel. Unfortunately I don’t have the first season to compare it to but this show grabbed me immediately and by the time the season finale started I was at the edge of my seat the entire time and then practically speechless by the time the credits rolled. With only 13 episodes to indulge in you walk away wishing there was way more. If you’re like me and are just getting into this show then right now is the perfect time and I can honestly say that you won’t be disappointed one bit.

Special Features:

This is My Design – An awesome documentary that really delves into everything you might want to know about the show. It goes everywhere from production to location scouting and so much more.

The Style of a Killer – This is about Hannibal’s sense of style and what the costume designers bring to the show.

Bodies of Lies – I loved this one! This is about all the practical and CG effects that went into creating the death scenes in the show.

Hannibal Season 2: Killer Intentions – Gives a run through of the season with a few interviews with the cast and crew.

Post Mortem with Scott Thompson Webisodes – An after show that takes a look at episodes of the season.

Gag Reel – A pretty funny feature that is probably even funnier because the shows’ dark tone.

Deleted Scenes – A really good set of scenes here that I thought should’ve been left in. They seem to give a bit more insight to some of the characters.
