The Movie:

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reprise their signature roles as Lloyd and Harry in the sequel to the smash hit that took the physical comedy and kicked it in the nuts: Dumb and Dumber To. The original film’s directors, Peter and Bobby Farrelly, take Lloyd and Harry on a road trip to find a child Harry never knew he had and the responsibility neither should ever, ever be given. Along for the ride are co-stars Kathleen Turner, Laurie Holden, and Rob Riggle.

The film starts with an in typical Dumb and Dumber fashion, with a joke that spans the last twenty years of friendship between Harry and Lloyd. Much of the film plays very similarly like the previous one even going as far as to rehash some old jokes. With those old jokes came some new ones as well and they were actually good. Stupid and idiotic but good…because that’s really the whole point, right? The story is actually a nice bridge from the original film to this one and it pretty much feels like it picks up where it left off for the most part. Carrey and Daniels have a chemistry that is unmatched. They both bring so much to the film but you can see that Carrey sets up the joke and Daniels knocks out the punchline the majority of the time. There’s a really funny supporting cast as well with Turner, Holden and Riggle. They push the story ahead as well as provide even more comedic moments. My personal favorite was Riggle. To me he kind of stole the show and gave a different vibe to the film that was welcoming. I honestly wasn’t expecting too much from this film just because sequel track records aren’t usually the best but this one was the exact sequel that was needed. I was entertaining from start to finish but I just hope that it doesn’t take twenty more years to see another one. 7/10

Special Features:

Alternate Opening – Pretty funny opening but I have to admit that it had me wanting to cover my crotch.

Deleted/Extended Scenes – A good number of scenes here. They don’t offer too much more to the film but they are just as entertaining.

Gag Reel – I love these so much. Seeing Carrey and Daniels have fun and goof off was just as entertaining as the film itself.

“That’s Awesome!” — The Story of Dumb & Dumber To – This feature takes a look at the filmmaking process of Dumb And Dumber To.

What’s So Smart About Dumb and Dumber To – The cast and crew take a look at the film and talk about why the dumb aspect of the film and why physically comedic gags work.

Dumb And Dumber To is available NOW on Blu-ray and DVD from Universal Studios Home Entertainment
