Looking Ahead at Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes

Snake is back and at it again in the ninth entry of the Metal Gear franchise. Well Naked Snake anyway aka Big Boss. From the looks of it, it looks like MGSGZ will take place after Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker but Hideo Kojima has confirmed that it definitely is a prologue to Metal Gear Solid 5 which I’m sure has longtime fans (myself included) grinning from ear to ear. According to Kojima Ground Zeroes will offer a base-building feature that allows player to develop weapons on their own. He also added that it will be accessible in multiple ways and the game will also feature a “day full day/night cycle” that will affect the stealth gameplay. This will be the first game to use the newly developed Fox Engine that was created by Kojima Productions. If this is any indication of the future of the Metal Gear series then we are in for a hell of a treat. The 14 minute gameplay footage (shown down below) that debuted last month looks absolutely beautiful. They have really raised the bar as far as game engines go and I’m positive that other companies have already taken notice. MGSGZ boasts “open world” gameplay which will allow the player to run around and explore a bit more than you previously could. It also seems to bring over some aspects and features from the Playstation Portable hit MGS:Peace Walker which provided an interesting and refreshing addition to the franchise.

Now after seeing this video a few questions arise (like they always do when Kojima drops one of these). Who is the badly scarred/burned man? Volgin? The Fury? Perhaps, or it could be someone entirely different.

What about the small boy in the cage? Chico from Peace Walker? A young Raiden? Maybe a young Liquid or Solid Snake?!?!

At this point it is all merely speculation but in all honestly that’s the best part of a MGS announcement such as this. We’ll find out the entire truth when MGSGZ is eventually released. You better believe Cinema Deviant will be covering all things MGS
