The Movie:

Babysitter Ashley (Olivia DeJonge) must defend her young charges (Levi Miller, Ed Oxenbould ) when intruders break into the house one snowy night – or so she thinks.

The cover art of this film is a tad bit misleading. It’s made to make you think that this is a Christmas themed horror movie but in fact it just takes place during the holidays. It may sound like I’m bagging on the film but I’m just giving a disclaimer. This film is a very clever version of a plot that we have seen many times before. We all have seen the story of the babysitter that gets terrorized by a killer and has to protect the kid(s) but this went in a totally unique way that I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. I don’t want to say too much about the plot because it does have a surprising “left turn” that I want people to experience. The cast was fantastic and was a group of relatively unknown actors which I felt was a nice treat and change of pace. I really liked the intensity and charisma of Miller but I do think that it could’ve been toned down just a little bit. I think if that would’ve happened he would’ve been one of the best characters that I’ve seen in horror in a good while. That’s by no means an insult as I think he brought forth something that was doesn’t come around very often. There was plenty of blood and gore involved which will make any horror fan happy and I liked the creativity in some of the kills in the film and that made it even more fun to watch. I can easily recommend checking this one out for a fun horror experience that you don’t have to think too much about. 7/10

Special Features:

Making Of – A really great in depth (almost an hour long) feature that digs into every process of making the movie. This was very interesting and informative. I wish more films had features like this.
