Season Overview:

Swing back into action with Sterling Archer – the world’s greatest spy – and the agents of ISIS for another hilarious season of cocktails, carousing and animated awesomeness! Follow the team around the globe, from the mysterious Bermuda Triangle all the way to the Vatican, as they bicker, backstab and bumble their way through assassination plots, an ill-advised marriage, an unexpected pregnancy, and a venomous snake bite in a very, very bad place! Packed with terrorist threats, sexual shenanigans, and all things inappropriate.

Initially I was a bit worried about reviewing this season seeing as I’ve never seen Archer before at all but it went away as soon as I saw the first two episodes. There is a slight continuing storyline throughout but for the most part each episode is its own story. The only way to describe this show is James Bond meets The Office meets Arrested Development and that’s a good thing in every sense. The entire season is so action packed and doesn’t slow down at all which makes for a perfect balance with the hysterical comedy and randomness that goes along with it. There are jokes and gags that are so wrong but are so funny that you just can’t help but crack up at them. The dialogue is so quick witted and clever that it hits you like a brick and knocks you senseless. I attempted to sit and think of my favorite episode of the season but I just couldn’t. They’re all so good in one way or another and each have certain jokes that stand out within the episode so basically there’s no bad episode at all. If you’ve never seen it before then I dare you to watch the first episode of this season and not be hooked right away. The only unfortunate thing is that there are only 13 30-minute episodes when I could’ve easily gotten through another 13 more but the show is a stupendous piece of comedic work that I’ll look forward to seeing more of. This is a definite Cinema Deviant recommendation!

Special Features:

Fisherman’s Daughter – A hilariously weird anime style short film that is unexplainable. You just have to see it.

Archer Live! – A very unique event where all the voice actors got together and acted out scenes from the show for a live audience. This was so good and so funny.

Archer: The Complete Season Four is available NOW on Blu-ray and DVD from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment
