Season Overview:
Megatron and his Decepticons have destroyed the Autobots’ headquarters, scattering Optimus Prime and his heroic team across the country and leaving them out of communication with one another. Meanwhile, Shockwave has come to the side of his commander, bringing with him the newest Decepticon weapon. Can the Autobots reunite in time to defeat Megatron and the Decepticons once and for all? Or does this new weapon mean the end for the Autobots…and Earth?
Picking up where the second season left off, we see Optimus Prime hanging on to the last little bit of his spark while Smokescreen tries to find a way to save him. Just in that line that I wrote you can tell just how different this series is from any other Transformers series. It’s a kids show that stays true to the Transformers mythos and packs on lots of action. This third season really shows how much it has grown over the years and it is an absolute shame that this is the final season. The one thing that got me really pumped up about this season was the inclusion of Ultra Magnus (who is Optimus Prime’s second in command). He has been a favorite of mine for a long time so seeing him in the show was a real treat. I really liked the fact they brought back Shockwave as he’s one of my favorite villains and the introduction of the Predaking made for a fantastic new threat for the Autobots. The animation of the show is better than ever. It mixes the “cartoon-y” aspect together with some really great CG animation. The only bad thing about the season was that there was only 13 episodes. After they were over I just wanted to see more but along with Predacons Rising, I felt like they wrapped the series up nicely and didn’t leave it too open ended like shows sometimes do. I absolutely LOVED this season from start to finish and this will definitely go on my shelf right there next to the original series. This is a must buy for your kids or if you’re a kid at heart looking to experience some great Transformers adventures.
