The Movie:
Ken Andrews (Donald Faison) has been the orchestrator of the hazing pranks at all of his buddies’ stags – elaborate, hilarious pranks that have left many emotional scars and a few physical ones. And now today is Ken’s stag! He nervously awaits the fate that his pals surely have in store for him, comforted only by the knowledge that Carl (Pat Thornton) will be there to watch his back. That is, so long as Carl can extract himself from the Hollywood celebrity, Veronica (Eva Amurri Martino). Ken will soon discover that payback is worse than he could ever imagine.
With a movie with a title like this I expected a raunchy, very graphic comedy but what I got instead was a mid level R rated comedy wrapped in a story of mid-life crisis’ and self discovery. It wasn’t bad at all but it just wasn’t what I expected. Kind of like when you see a glass of clear liquid thinking it’s water then when you take a drink you find out it’s straight up vodka. Faison’s story was what the film was about but it wasn’t the main focus. The focus instead was more so on Luke played by Jon Dore who is going through a mid-life crisis and doesn’t know what he wants out of life. The approach they take is a humorous one but also somewhat sad. There’s a moment where he gives a rundown of his usual day and it just makes you feel so bad for him. It also makes you really want to take a look at your life and change things around. A lot of the “funny” comes from the flashback moments that the group has when remembering Ken’s pranks but that’s about as good as it gets. The film wasn’t drop dead funny but it was entertaining and a definite good time. Check this one out if you get the moment.
