The Movie:

After the highs of winning the World Championships, the Bellas find themselves split apart and discovering there are no job prospects for making music with only your mouth. But when they get the chance to reunite for a European USO tour, this group of awesome nerds will come together to make some music, and some questionable decisions, one last time.

The Pitch Perfect films have been a guilty pleasure of mine but I haven’t hid my feelings about them at all. I absolutely LOVED the first one but the second one felt like it tried a bit too hard to live up to the original. Naturally I was going into this film with a tad bit of hesitation. Thankfully it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be which is a big plus. It’s definitely better than the second one but it still doesn’t top the original. The film had some of the usual gags that you would expect from this franchise but it did also feel kind of fresh in a certain way. Mainly because it was wrapping up “The Bellas” storyline. They even threw some action in there which felt a little odd but it shook things up a bit. Another thing that I did like was the fact that the film was kind of self aware to a certain extent. There were moments where characters would say things like “I don’t understand why we keep doing….” and it made me feel like even they knew certain tropes were getting repeated. It’s not the best comedy film out there but I will say that it was a pretty fun watch. If you’re looking for a simple comedy to check out with music involved then this is one that you’re going to want to check it out. 7/10

4K Presentation:

There’s quite a bit of an upgrade from the standard Blu-ray version of this title. The picture quality looks nice and crisp in addition to quite an improvement on clarity. The color saturation has improved as well with colors looking very vivid and robust, especially during performance numbers. This was really a treat seeing as sometimes the 4K picture looks just as good as a standard Blu-ray but here we actually do see an upgrade.
