Odd Thomas: Blu-ray Review
The Movie:
Small-town fry cook Odd Thomas (Anton Yelchin) is an ordinary guy with a paranormal secret: he sees dead people, everywhere. When a creepy stranger shows-up with an entourage of ghostly bodachs – predators who feed on pain and portend mass destruction – Odd knows that his town is in serious trouble. Teaming up with his sweetheart Stormy (Addison Timlin) and the local sheriff (Willem Dafoe), Odd plunges into an epic battle of good vs evil to try to stop a disaster of apocalyptic proportions.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen a supernatural type of film like this one so after reading the synopsis I knew I had to check this out. The movie came out of the gate strong and within the first 7 minutes I knew that it had me pulled in. When I went into it I expected a supernatural horror kind of film but what I got was way better than that. It’s less horror (but some aspects make it creepy) and more murder mystery. The only film that I can somewhat liken it to is Constantine. It has that same kind of vibe to it except the main character doesn’t necessarily go after the ghosts, the ghosts contact him and he goes after the people that have committed vicious crimes. I was taken aback at how awesome the visual effects were. Every time a creature came crawling onto the screen I took my time and really looked it. The detail was astounding and although the creature was halfway see through you could see its body stretching and slinking around like a predator looking for its prey. It really does have an intriguing story that will keep your attention and as it all unfolds you may be kinda surprised at what comes from it. Another thing that this film has is one of the best finales that I’ve seen in a while. I won’t spoil it but it really is good. I haven’t read any of the books that the film is based on but after watching this I certainly hope they continue on with the Odd Thomas story. It’s an indie film that disguises itself as a big budget film and it does it extremely well. This is one that you HAVE to check out!

There were none which was kind of disappointing. I thought this film was great and it at least deserved a behind the scenes feature.
