The Movie:

Derek Cho (Steven Yeun) is having a really bad day. After being unjustly fired from his job, he discovers that the law firm’s building is under quarantine for a mysterious and dangerous virus. Chaos erupts throughout the office as the victims of the disease begin acting out their wildest impulses. Joining forces with a former client (Samara Weaving) who has a grudge of her own, Derek savagely fights tooth and nail to get to the executives on the top floor and settle the score once and for all.

I’ve been anticipating this film for a good while now so of course I had to watch it immediately. If there’s one thing can be said about director Joe Lynch’s work is that it’s always fun. Mayhem is definitely that. On top of it being fun it’s action packed, thrilling and full of fantastic gore. The plot is feels exactly like a mix between Office Space and The Belko Experiment and I LOVE both of those films. Yeun was fantastic in the film. I’m a huge fan of his work and seeing him in something outside of The Walking Dead was refreshing and it showed that he’s no “One Trick Pony”. Weaving was great as well and had awesome on screen chemistry with Yeun. They were a pair of badasses that commanded the screen the whole time. I had a total blast watching this film and this is an easy recommendation for people if they love violent, faced paced horror comedies with hard hitting action. 9/10

4K Presentation:

This film is a pretty decent 4K release but nothing too amazing. It does offer nice clarity to the point where details and textures are noticeable which is always necessary for this format. The black levels are decent but there are moments where it doesn’t hit the mark and it gets kind of dark. For the most part this is a really good attempt at 4K but with the lack of HDR I feel like it could’ve been way better.

Special Features:

The Collected Works of Derek Cho – A gallery showing some of the artwork done by the main character of the film.

Creating Mayhem – A cool feature that shows insight of the production and includes interviews with the cast and crew.

Audio Commentary With Director Joe Lynch
