Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife: Blu-ray Review
The Movie:
Everyone hates Ward’s wife and wants her dead. Especially Ward (Donald Faison). But when murderous fantasies accidentally get real, Ward and his pals (Amy Acker, James Carpinello, Scott Foley, Patrick Wilson, Marika Dominczyk) have all new problems: Disposing of the body. Getting away with murder. Making their 3pm tee time.
It’s a funny/not funny premise because who hasn’t had a friend at some point in their life that had a wife or girlfriend that you just didn’t like. The only thing is that these guys take it one step further and actually (accidentally) do the worst. I’m not going to lie though, they made the wife SO unlikeable in this film so I didn’t feel bad one bit seeing what happened to the character. The story is pretty straightforward and not too complex which was good. I’ve seen some dark comedies in the past (anybody remember Jawbreaker) and when you think dark comedy Scott Foley’s name would never come up which is surprising but for this being his directorial debut I thought it was fantastic. He took a premise that is serious and was able to inject so much comedy in it that I laughed the whole way through. The funniest part of the whole thing was how calm everyone was about the situation. I found myself laughing out loud at how everybody casually shrugged their shoulders when trying to dismember a dead body, especially Ward. The cast that was put together for this film was perfect. They all seemed liked genuine friends and they played off each other perfectly which made for an entertaining film. The only thing that I didn’t like was the ending. Sure, I figured they would get away with it but it just seemed like it ended abruptly and kind of left me saying “That’s it?”. Other than that I really liked this film a lot and it definitely ranks up there as one of my favorite dark comedies. 8/10

Outtakes – Seeing this group of actors during these outtakes made me laugh so much. Too bad it was so short.
