The Movie:
Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.
This film is the culmination of 10 years in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we’ve all been waiting for this moment. I came into this movie with the highest expectations and I don’t normally do that with ANY film at all. Thankfully I wasn’t let down at all and this film went to a level that I’ve never seen in a Marvel movie. From start to finish it was heavy hitting and action packed with little to no slow down. The antagonists are some of the best that I’ve seen so far and each and every one of them felt dangerous to the heroes. The story played out exactly as I imagined that it would but they most certainly threw some curveballs in there and created moments that left my jaw on the floor. The only thing that I do wish would’ve been done was to spend a bit more time with some other characters like Captain America. However I do understand that in a movie of this scale and with so many heroes time had to be split between them all to get the story moving so that’s not really a negative mark for me. The Russo Brothers have set the bar really high as far as comic book movies go and they tend to go above and beyond every single time. What does that mean for the future of the MCU? I don’t know but I’m excited to see where they take it! 10/10
4K Presentation:
Disney has really stepped it up when it comes to their 4K titles and this film makes it very apparent. The picture quality looks nice and crisp with a lot of details shown on the fabric of the heroes uniforms and suits. Colors throughout the film look nice and crisp with the vibrancy taken up a notch from the typical Blu-ray release. Usually with big popcorn films it becomes noticeable that various things are done using CGI in 4K but this film looks photo realistic even with the higher picture quality. This one is a great Marvel 4K release and I hope they keep it up!
Special Features:
Strange Alchemy – This feature explains how it is to bring all the heroes of the MCU together for the first time.
The Mad Titan – This takes a look at Thanos himself. We see what his motivations are and how he’s influenced the Marvel Universe.
Beyond the Battle: Titan – A look at how Thanos’ destroyed world was created and how certain stunts were done.
Beyond the Battle: Wakanda – A great feature on how the humongous battle took place and what went into pulling it off.
Deleted and Extended Scenes – Only a handful of scenes here but each one is really fun and interesting to watch.
Gag Reel – One of my favorite things with these films. It’s nice and funny to see the actors flub and just goof off.
