The Movie:

Nick Wild (Jason Statham) is a Las Vegas bodyguard with lethal professional skills and a personal gambling problem. When a sadistic thug beats his friend, Nick strikes back, only to find out the thug is the son of a powerful mob boss. Suddenly Nick is plunged into the criminal underworld, chased by enforcers and wanted by the mob. Having raised the stakes, Nick has one last play to change his fortunes…and this time, it’s all or nothing.

Statham has made a career of being an action star so it’s no surprise that we get another action packed film from him. It’s similar to some of the others as he’s a “down on his luck” kind of guy that gets caught up in a situation which in turn causes the mob to be after him. His bad luck does make for some pretty decent dramatic moments but nothing that you would call award worthy. It’s the action scenes that Statham obviously excels in. They are fast and hard hitting to the point they practically make you cringe with every hit. I will say that the most cringe worthy moment beloged to Dominik García-Lorido. I’ll just say that she almost cuts a sausage with some garden shears…..ouch. Milo Ventimiglia actually plays a really great villain. He’s a bit whiny but I like seeing him playing something other than the good guy all the time. The film has it’s slow moments but all in all it’s a pretty good action film to lose yourself in for an hour and a half or so. 6/10
