The Movie:

This is the story of medical school dropout Wallace (Daniel Radcliffe), who’s been repeatedly burned by bad relationships. So while everyone around him, including his roommate Allan (Adam Driver)  seems to be finding the perfect partner, Wallace decides to put his love life on hold. It is then that he meets Chantry (Zoe Kazan) an animator who lives with her longtime boyfriend Ben. Wallace and Chantry form an instant connection, striking up a close friendship. Still, there is no denying the chemistry between them, leading the pair to wonder, what if the love of your life is actually your best friend?

It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen a film that has dealt with love and relationships like this one does. This one takes the idea that love happens at the weirdest times unknowingly and put all of these roadblocks in the way such as timing, work or even a significant other. Things get complicated in the story when a third party is involved but it still manages to keep the fairy tale feeling to it going when it could’ve definitely come across as completely wrong. I think the fact that the film had two really charming and endearing actors really help steer the film away from that kind of territory. The chemistry between Radcliffe and Kazan is undeniable in the scenes that they share together and the banter that each throw back in forth is some of the best (and funniest) that I’ve seen in a film in a good while. It all just seems so natural to both of them and they pull it off fantastically. This was a good film and even though there were some instances that made me shake my head a little it still did a great job at being a charming and romantic film. This is one to check out for sure!
