Looking Ahead at Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes

Snake is back and at it again in the ninth entry of the Metal Gear franchise. Well Naked Snake anyway aka Big Boss. From the looks of it, it looks like MGSGZ will take place after Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker but Hideo Kojima has confirmed that it definitely is a prologue to Metal Gear Solid 5 which I’m sure has longtime fans (myself included) grinning from ear to ear. According to Kojima Ground Zeroes will offer a base-building feature that allows player to develop weapons on their own. He also added that it will be accessible in multiple ways and the game will also feature a “day full day/night cycle” that will affect the stealth gameplay. This will be the first game to use the newly developed Fox Engine that was created by Kojima Productions. If this is any indication of the future of the Metal Gear series then we are in for a hell of a treat. The 14 minute gameplay footage (shown down below) that debuted last month looks absolutely beautiful. They have really raised the bar as far as game engines go and I’m positive that other companies have already taken notice. MGSGZ boasts “open world” gameplay which will allow the player to run around and explore a bit more than you previously could. It also seems to bring over some aspects and features from the Playstation Portable hit MGS:Peace Walker which provided an interesting and refreshing addition to the franchise.

Now after seeing this video a few questions arise (like they always do when Kojima drops one of these). Who is the badly scarred/burned man? Volgin? The Fury? Perhaps, or it could be someone entirely different.

What about the small boy in the cage? Chico from Peace Walker? A young Raiden? Maybe a young Liquid or Solid Snake?!?!

At this point it is all merely speculation but in all honestly that’s the best part of a MGS announcement such as this. We’ll find out the entire truth when MGSGZ is eventually released. You better believe Cinema Deviant will be covering all things MGS

American Horror Story makes its way back to TV via the Asylum

Mark your calenders if you haven’t already. The second season of FX’s American Horror Story will be making its way into your living rooms Oct. 17th, this time with the subtitle “Asylum”. If that doesn’t already make your skin crawl then I don’t know what will. The first season debuted with 3.2 Million viewers watching the premiere episode and I’m 100% certain this season will be no different. Since the ending of the previous season I’ve been wondering what they we going to do with the series then about a week or two ago I started seeing promos air on TV. They officially had my full undivided attention. Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine (pictured below) will appear in the premiere along with the regulars of this season:

Below are a collection of (creepy) teasers thus far for Season 2:

Now for the question you should ask yourself come Oct. 17th……”Should I watch it with the lights off?”

The answer is yes. Definitely yes.

Short: Daredevil “Sizzle Reel”

Director Joe Carnahan just released this “sizzle reel” (via his twitter acct: @CarnoJoe) that was test footage for his take on Daredevil. According to him “The clock ticked down at Fox” and it seems like its not going to get made. I really hated to see those words because I for one was really excited to see how it would’ve come out. You all be the judge and tell him what you think.

There are 2 versions:

PG-13

and NC-17

Ted: Review

Seth MacFarlane co-wrote, produced, played the voice of the title character as well as this being his live action full length directorial debut. Mark Wahlberg stars as John Bennett, a kid that no one seems to like or get along with. One Christmas Day he receives an adorable stuffed teddy bear that instantly becomes his best friend which he names Ted. He then makes a wish that changes everything. He wishes that Ted was real. Word spreads fast and next thing you know he becomes a celebrity. Fast forward 27 yeas later and Ted’s celebrity status went downhill. He and John are still best friends that do what most lazy slackers do: get drunk and get high. Its not until John’s girlfriend of four years (played by Mila Kunis) gives him an ultimatum that things being to change in the relationship between a man and his bear.

I haven’t seen a whole lot of MacFarlane’s animated shows (Family Guy, American Dad) but the bit that I have seen made me a fan of the randomness of it all and Ted is nothing different. The humor is raunchy if not more raunchy than anything you would usually see from MacFarlane and smart as well. Although in a packed theater some of the jokes went over the crowds head and all I heard was crickets. For the record, I thought they were funny. The other glorious thing that was so random was the two characters (somewhat crazy) love of Flash Gordon. The dream sequence involving Mark Wahlberg is hilariously cheesy. Wahlbeg  hasn’t done too many comedy roles but I feel like this might be one of his strong points. He has great comedic timing and he is believable in his role as a doofus/slacker type. Mila Kunis has also proved that she can hang with the guys when it comes to disgusting comedy but still coming off as a voice of reason to John. I recommend this movie only if you want to laugh your butt off and are not easily offended.
