Written and directed by Christie Will, this film is set in LA following the quirky life of Dale (Lacey Chabert), a young woman who hasn’t had the best of luck in the love department. She’s found herself in a vicious circle of meaningless relationships and can’t seem to find the right fit. With help with her friends, Hallie (Jenna Dewan-Tatum), Seven (Jonathan Bennett), Jill (Haylie Duff), and Becca (Carly Schroeder), Dale begins to realize that her failed attempts could have more to do with her actual selection process. With Jill’s wedding around the corner, Dale wonders if she would ever find someone to consider the “one”. Could the return of her old friend Zach (Kip Pardue) spark a new perspective for Dale?

I watched the movie without reading the synopsis and was pleasantly surprised. The film was a bit reminiscent of Sex in the City with Dale’s character providing narration throughout. We all know the dating scene is hard, but this movie made dating in LA appear to be nearly impossible. It’s who you know and how you know them in this city, but with the right combination of friends, you can be alright. I wondered a few times why Dale kept the friendships she did, but when you stop and think about our own friendships, sometimes we end up with a bunch of misfits! The movie had its predictable moments, but overall was entertaining to watch.

Bonus Features:
Meet the director – It was great to get a back story not only on the writer/director of this film, but also her perspective on each character/actor. Christie Will provided her feedback on how she felt about each actor and also acknowledged the film is loosely based on her own life. It’s always nice to see the director on a personable level.
