Explore the origins of “dream demon” Freddy Krueger in this award-winning documentary that takes you behind the scenes of the most frightening and imaginative horror franchise in motion picture history! It’s no secret that I love horror films and one of my all time favorites is the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise. Freddy Krueger is a horror icon and the NOES films have kept generations of people terrified to close their eyes at night. This documentary, with it just under 4 hours, is the most comprehensive one of its kind and really digs deep into each film and I loved to hear Wes Craven give his story on how he came up with the Freddy character. It doesn’t just stop with Wes either, just about every cast member from the past takes part in this stupendous film and to talk about their experiences while making the the films. Another great thing about this doc is the very rare behind the scenes photos and clips that are shown. Stuff like that doesn’t get put out very often and to think all the work that had to be put in to collecting all of that stuff together. Even though the franchise had its ups and downs this feature truly shows just how much everyone is so appreciative to be a part of horror history. As the cast and crew talk you can see a certain spark in their eyes and the fondness for the experiences whether they were good or bad. The person that got a kick out of it the most was Freddy himself, Mr. Robert Englund. You can see for yourself that he completely embraces the character, its legacy and all of the fans as well. I loved every part of the documentary from start to finish and for it being 4 hours I can honestly say it didn’t feel like it. It flew by and I sat there wanting to know more. I’ve seen quite a few behind the scenes features and retrospectives about NOES but this is by far the best and most complete. If you’re a a horror fan then you WON’T want to miss this and better yet it’s now available on Blu-ray! Do yourself a favor and order your copy as soon as you finish reading this. Do it!
