Season Overview:

After taking the tech world by storm last season at TechCrunch Disrupt, Richard (Thomas Middleditch) and rest of the Pied Piper team – Erlich (T.J. Miller), Jared (Zach Woods), Dinesh (Kumail Nanjiani) and Gilfoyle (Martin Starr) – look ahead to a bright and profitable future. But their success may be in jeopardy, thanks to big changes at Raviga, the company created by Peter Gregory, and Nucleus, the competing compression platform launched by Hooli CEO Gavin Belson (Matt Ross).

After a phenomenal first season I was counting down the days until the second. The day finally came and…….it was even better than the previous one! The comedy ensemble is picture perfect together and they hilariously play off of each other so seamlessly. The quips and banter between them all is so fast and so smart that it has to feel like second nature to these guys. I’m a huge tech guy so this show and the story of Pied Piper is one that is extremely intriguing to me because as funny and insane as it is, it’s reality. These sort of corporate strong arming over small startups happen ALL THE TIME and that’s the thing that makes everybody root for this group. As a viewer it is frustrating at times to see Richard start to get ahead only to get knocked back 5 steps but that does show that the writing is clever and it makes you react to what’s going on. Middleditch leads an outstanding bunch but it’s his awkwardness that’s the likeability factor for him. He stumbles and is so fidgety but it’s those qualities that make him endearing. This is one show that I do feel that has potential to grow and expand crazily with all sorts of tech possibilities. The jokes and quips are strong as hell and Mike Judge is doing a fantastic job at keeping that consistent which gives me plenty of hope for season three. 10/10

Special Features:

Deleted Scenes – The scenes are pieced out throughout all the discs and entertaining to check out but you can see why they were excluded.

Reality Bytes: The Art & Science Behind Silicon Valley – A really brief look at how they are able to blend the tech talk with the comedy of the show.

Audio Commentary – There are six interesting commentaries that are spread out through the season that I really enjoyed listening to.
