The Movie:
Suki (Katie Cassidy), a young woman confronting her destructive mental illness using “The Siamese Burn,” an experimental machine designed to eliminate multiple personalities. The closer Suki comes to being “cured,” she’s haunted by a thought… what if the last unwanted identity turns out to be her?
It’s funny because I wanted to see this movie strictly on the interesting premise and then I come to find out that it’s based on a graphic novel and that garnered my interest even more. There’s something about a film with multiple personalities that attracts me. I think it has to do with the curiousness of the actor’s ability to switch between characters with ease. Cassidy gives one of the strongest performances that I’ve seen from her in a while and impressed me with her versatility. The film was a bit out there as far as some of the characters and others felt over the top but what do you expect coming from a comic. The Suki character is an interesting one and I thought brought some a much needed super heroine to the screen. Sure some of it was cheesy and there were a bit of “not so great” special effects (there were some also very good ones) but for the most part it was the story that grabbed me and the way The Scribbler would make its appearance. There were a lot of good action sequences too especially towards the end of the film. Cassidy wouldn’t have been my first pick to be involved in super hero fight scenes but she did quite well and actually surprised me with her physicality. The supporting cast was great and rounded out the film quite well. With the likes of Michelle Trachtenberg, Michael Imperioli, Gina Gershon, Sasha Grey and Billy Campbell, they all brought a good flavor to a film that I feel could’ve fallen on its face if it wasn’t for a strong cast. I would say that if you are in the mood for a “different” kind of super hero film then give this a view and I honestly think you’ll enjoy it.
Special Features:
There were NONE! Which was a disappointment for sure because I was actually curious to see a Behind The Scenes feature or something.
