The Movie:
It’s a jungle out there for Blu, Jewel and their three kids after they’re hurtled Rio de Janeiro to the wilds of the Amazon. As Blu tries to fit in, he goes beak-to-beak with the vengeful Nigel, and meets the most fearsome adversary of all: his father-in-law.
This is one sequel that I was actually looking forward to. Rio was a film that was really fun to watch and blew up like it didn’t anticipate. Rio 2 takes the bunch away from their home in Rio de Janeiro and sends them in to the Amazon. From the very start I absolutely loved this film. It stayed true to what the original was but expanded and brought a whole new feel to it and had plenty of laughs the entire way through. There are a few familiar faces from the first film besides Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway, namely Nico (Jamie Foxx) and Pedro (Will.i.am) but there is a slew of new faces as well with a few being Eduardo (Andy Garcia) and Roberto (Bruno Mars). The story is pretty straightforward and easy enough for anyone to follow but I think the thing that really grabbed me the most was the vibrant colors of the film itself. With a lot of it being very tropical you find that (much like the original) all of the colors of the characters and environments really pop and tend to keep your eyes fixated to the screen. The soundtrack is another great aspect of this film. There’s lots of really fun Brazilian inspired music along with some good ol’ American pop music as well and that makes you want to dance in your seat while watching the film. It truly is a great film to watch with the family and the kids will definitely love it. My son has watched it AT LEAST 7 times already so you know this is a kid pleaser. If you’re looking to have a fun time watching a movie then look no further and enjoy!
