The Movie:

BSAA Chris Redfield enlists the help of government agent Leon S. Kennedy and Professor Rebecca Chambers from Alexander Institute of Biotechnology to stop a death merchant with a vengeance from spreading a deadly virus in New York.

I’ve been a fan of Resident Evil CG movies from the start and have always said that these films are what the Resident Evil film franchise should’ve been. There’s just so much more that you can do with CG and because of that they feel a lot closer to the games. In this film you can easily see and appreciate the progression of the animation and it really does look like you’re watching a video game. It’s just as bloody and gory as you would expect a Resident Evil movie to be but the story itself has so much different depth to it. The villain of the movie isn’t your typical “bad guy” which is really refreshing. He has his motives for what he’s doing but in some weird way it can be somewhat relatable which made me impressed and interested even more in the story. The other thing that is also a treat is seeing familiar faces from the RE franchise interacting together where they normally wouldn’t in the games. The final act of the movie was so crazy and “out there” that it was fairly similar to the live action movies but because this is animation it’s way more forgivable and entertaining. If you’re a fan of the games series and have become jaded with the live action movies then you HAVE to pick this one up and I can guarantee that you’re going to love it! 8/10

4K Presentation:

Much as I anticipated the movie looks really great in 4K. Black levels have been enhanced and colors (where there are some) look very crisp and vibrant. The thing that I was extremely impressed with was the level of texture that appears in this format. From seeing pores on faces to the way that various threading or textures could be seen on fabrics of clothing, it was kind of amazing to view seeing as it was all done digitally. 4K is definitely the way to go for this film.
