The Movie:

The third installment in the popular Nazi zombie saga restores the series to its WW2 origins and introduces a new hero in Dolokhov (Brian Larkin), a member of Russia’s elite special forces. His strength and survival skills are sorely put to the test when he is captured by the Germans and taken to an underground bunker, where the most horrifying experiments are under way.

Everyone loves zombies! Everyone loves Naz…..wait, no they don’t! But ever since Call Of Duty: World At War introduced the Nazi Zombie feature everyone has had a fascination with killing them. Enter the Outpost series. Here we are at the third one as it serves basically as a prequel explaining how the undead soldiers came to be. The acting wasn’t half bad and was actually kind of believable. It’s not A-list caliber but still good enough for a low budget genre film. There was a moment that made me chuckle a bit. I’m not sure if they purposely but at one point there was an American soldier with the last name Rogers and he tells the other guys “But you can call me Captain” which seems like a nod to Steve Rogers a.k.a Captain America. Either way it was pretty funny to see. Now, the zombies that we see here are of the running variety which make them a bigger threat than your usual slow moving undead. Some of the zombies looked like they just had masks on but others had some pretty good make up effects. I just wasn’t a fan of one thing and that was the fact that the undead was actually fighting back. They threw punches and made counter moves to certain attacks that just looked ridiculous but I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that these zombies were more like weapons than completely undead. The film was low-budget but rather enjoyable to watch so if you like zombies, military films and lots of blood then this would be perfect for you. Check it out if you dare!

Outpost:Rise Of The Spetsnaz is available March 18th on Blu-ray and DVD from XLrator Media
