Marvel Is Giving Logan His Swan Song With “The Death Of Wolverine”…

Since the final page of The Incredible Hulk #180 in 1962 people have been fascinated by the mysterious mutant known as Wolverine. James Howlett aka Logan has had quite the life and has gone through some of the biggest adventures and changes throughout his history and now Charles Soule and Steve McNiven are going to end it all starting in June with “3 Months to Die” and culminating with 4 part mini-series in September called “Death Of Wolverine”. Executive Editor at Marvel Michael Marts states, “For a long time, no matter who Wolverine was battling, he’s been the eternal victor. He almost always comes out on top. Now he finally comes up against an adversary that he cannot win against, he cannot fight. What does that mean for this character who’s been around for hundred years?”.

This really is a big move on the part of Marvel. Wolverine was already a huge character and with the feature films he has become quite the iconic hero. I just hope that if they are going to kill him off then keep him gone for a good while before even thinking about bringing the character back (because you know they will…ie: Peter Parker). For this to work properly they NEED to make it all (death and return) very impactful and meaningful. In complete honestly, between this story and the upcoming Original Sin this may be what pulls me back in as an active comic book reader.
