The Movie:

A group of young, raw, and undisciplined assassins hire a docu-crew at gunpoint to have undeniable proof that they’re the ones who will kill the most infamous hit man of all time, Gunther (Arnold Schwarzenegger). But Gunther is on to them before they know it and makes their lives a living hell, turning the hunters into the prey in a kill-or-be-killed race against time.

I’m a fan of Taran Killam and his brand of comedy so I was excited to check out his directorial debut. The film was really funny right from the start but the one thing that I didn’t expect was the documentary style comedy. In all honesty it kind of bugged me at first but as the film got going a bit I found it hilarious and the clever camerawork was perfect for a film like this. The plot is pretty straightforward and basic but it works. The ensemble cast work together really well and because of their comedic chops it felt really natural. It’s because of that that the film was so much fun. There is a low budget aspect that is pretty evident when you see some of the special effects but in most cases it made the film even funnier because of it. This film wasn’t meant to win any awards or anything but if you’re looking for a fun action movie that will make you laugh then this this definitely it. 6/10

Special Features:

Bloopers – Very hilarious collection of flubs, missed cues and just plain tomfoolery.

Deleted Scenes – Only 2 scenes here that are very quick and decent to check out but doesn’t add anything extra.

Killing Gunther is available NOW on Blu-ray and DVD from Lionsgate
