Located off the coast of Costa Rica, the Jurassic World luxury resort provides a habitat for an array of genetically engineered dinosaurs, including the vicious and intelligent Indominus rex. When the massive creature escapes, it sets off a chain reaction that causes the other dinos to run amok. Now, it’s up to a former military man and animal expert (Chris Pratt) to use his special skills to save two young brothers and the rest of the tourists from an all-out, prehistoric assault.

One thing that I will never get tired of is dinosaurs so like everyone else I have been silently waiting for another “Jurassic” movie. I would be lying if I wasn’t just a little bit worried about it because of the previous two entries. Thankfully my worries went out the window almost immediately. The movie started out just a little slow paced just because of having to introduce the characters but from there it becomes a fast paced monster of a film. It steers away from being a film just about dinosaurs and pretty much goes down the monster movie route. The Indominous Rex is a BEAST (literally) and I love the way they went with it being a smart creature that is smart enough to stalk its prey. It took the idea of the T-Rex and just made it even more menacing and dangerous than anything I’ve ever seen. This film didn’t entirely feel like a sequel. Instead it was a movie all its own with nods to the previous one. Some of those nods were a really nice touch as well. Pratt, as usual, was perfection in the way that he balanced his character between slight comedic moments and just being a complete badass. Howard kind of surprised me. She played her character very whiny and condescending initially but by the end she was just as much of a badass as Pratt was. Two thumbs up for all the running she did in high heels (even though I don’t understand why she wouldn’t just take them off). They had such great chemistry onscreen and I would LOVE to see these two show up in other Jurassic World sequels. The dinosaurs in the film looked phenomenal and seeing them took me back to when I saw Jurassic Park the first time. They were able to recapture the magic from the first one without feeling like they were just rehashing things. There was a bit too much product placement in the film to the point it felt like a little overkill but it’s excusable for the fact that it does take place in an amusement park setting. When I first saw the trailer with the Raptors running alongside Pratt’s character I rolled my eyes and just couldn’t understand why they would do that but after watching the movie it completely justifies that scene and it turned out to be one of my favorite moments. The finale of the film was one of those that pretty much had the whole theater cheering and clapping. That is honestly something I haven’t seen in….well EVER come to think of it. It was great and created a fantastic film experience. Bottom line: Go see this movie as soon as you can! I felt like it cured the need for the nostalgia of the franchise but also gave us something that was fresh and attention grabbing. 9/10

Jurassic World is NOW PLAYING in theaters everywhere!
