The Movie:

In postwar Hong Kong, legendary Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man () is reluctantly called into action once more, when what begin as simple challenges from rival kung fu styles soon draw him into the dark and dangerous underworld of the Triads. Now, to defend life and honor, he has no choice but to fight one last time

Ip Man: The Final Fight is the third film in the series and wraps things up for his story. It focuses more so on Ip’s later years in life and does a fantastic job at doing it. Wong is phenomenal as Ip and you could almost feel like he embodied the grandmaster down to the looks he gave. There was so much emotional that came from Wong’s performance and The fight choreography was so intense and fast paced that it had me on the edge of my seat for the most part. Seeing Wong perform his fight sequences was so artistic it was almost like watching a painting in motion. His movements were so graceful yet exuded so much power. I love that the setting of the film was so realistic and it almost felt like you had been transported to that place in time. From what I can remember I think there was a Civil War of sorts going on around the time frame of the film but that wasn’t mentioned or discussed at all which I thought was kind of weird but the look and feel of the time period was there for sure. I did like that they made mention of Bruce Lee and how Ip Man was his master. The ending was rather sad because you could see that Ip was heading to his final moments of life and he knew it. The last scene where they showed him practicing with the wooden dummy was a great ending because they also showed the actual footage of Ip himself. That made the film and the connection to the grandmaster that much more real. For a great REAL martial arts film then I suggest checking this one out.
