Season Overview:

Kevin Pacalioglu (Tyler Labine) may have no money and no clue, but he can see dead people, so that’s pretty cool. Faced with a constant stream of stubborn spirits, Pac goes to whatever lengths require the least amount of effort to help New York City’s most frivolous ghosts finish their unfinished business.

I’ve been a fan of Labine for a good while now and his brand of humor is the type that slowly builds up from just a smile to downright laughter. I had NEVER heard of this show at all but I saw his name attached and the fact that the show was basically like Medium mixed with a splashes of Jay and Silent Bob. You can imagine how surprised I was to find out that this was a Hulu Original Series. Two thumbs up for Hulu! Right from the start I was already cracking up and having a great time watching it. The biggest thing that really grabbed me was the fact that this is a show that you can actually watch and not think about. It gives you everything you need up front to enjoy it and it doesn’t falter one bit. Deadbeat provides the perfect balance of comedy and supernatural but the show is only as great as it’s supporting cast.  Brandon T. Jackson provides some great “sidekick” moments and his comedic timing is impeccable and this show really makes me wonder why he hasn’t been in the mainstream as of late. I’m just waiting for him to nab the perfect role to skyrocket him into super stardom. The person that I was most surprised to see was Cat Deeley. I’ve only seen her as a host on So You Think You Can Dance so I wasn’t too sure what to expect regarding her acting ability but she actually wasn’t half bad. Her role was mainly antagonistic and she was very good at it and I think she would do well in more roles like that. This show isn’t anything up to the standards of some of the other original programming from the likes of Netflix but it does show that companies like Hulu can pump out good, quality shows that could rival anything you see on network T.V.
