The Movie:

Martin (Vegar Hoel) hasn’t had the best vacation. He accidentally killed his girlfriend with an axe. He cut his own arm off with a chainsaw. And his friends STILL got devoured by a battalion of Nazi Zombies. This morning he woke up in a hospital bed with a new arm – but it’s a super-powered Zombie arm that wants to kill him and anything else it can reach. Martin’s PISSED. And with the help of his new Zombie Squad pals (Martin Starr, Jocelyn DeBoer, Ingrid Haas), he’s gonna deliver some payback to Colonel Herzog and his precious Nazi gold – by raising an undead army of his own.

I’m pretty meticulous in watching zombie movies now because film has been inundated with them that sometimes they can get rather ridiculous. Then comes Dead Snow 2 and it all gets thrown out the window immediately. Normally I can’t stand zombie movies that don’t go by the usual rules of the genre but this was so different than the others that I actually didn’t mind it. You have Nazi Zombies back for more mayhem, a zombie arm switch off that raises the dead and an undead battle that will rival Lord Of The Rings…..ok, maybe not but it was still really entertaining. If you haven’t seen the first film (you should if you haven’t) then it’s not a horrible thing because they give you a quick recap at the start of the film and it continues exactly from the ending of the first one which is cool. Most of the time you’ll get a big time jump in between sequels but it isn’t often that it would pick up exactly from the previous film. The other great part of it is the comedy that mixes extremely well with this film. It’s very much in the same vain as Shaun of the Dead which is silly but is a great blend with the horror elements that are present. This film really surprised me and I ended up really liking it a lot so if you enjoy a good (not serious) zombie flick then I suggest you give this a view.

Special Features:

International Version: Dod Sno 2 – The feature film in it’s native Norwegian language.

Short Film: Armen – A funny short about a man that loses an arm in an accident then regrows it. The only thing is that the arm doesn’t respond like he thinks it would.

VFX Featurette – This is a VERY quick feature that takes a look at how an effects scene is put together.

Dead Snow Comic Book – This serves as a prequel to the films and sets up how the Nazi Zombies come across the gold that they are initially trying to find.
