The Movie:

Flint Lockwood () now works at The Live Corp Company for his idol Chester V (). But he’s forced to leave his post when he learns that his most infamous machine is still operational and is churning out menacing food-animal hybrids.

I really loved the first film so when I heard about the sequel I wasn’t too sure how it was going to be pulled off and if it was going to be better or at least equal to the first. The doubt stopped as soon as the movie started. Essentially they took the best parts of the first film and expanded the story immensely. It was so clever and funny with a story that anyone could enjoy. My favorite thing in particular were the Foodimals. I found myself laughing at the creations that they would point out and laughing even harder at the ones I was finding myself in the background (like the Susheep). My son’s favorite was Barry (of course). When I asked him why he told me “Cuz he’s a strawberry that talks and strawberries aren’t supposed to talk right?”. It really is as simple as that with kids and that’s what is so great about this film. It makes it so easy for it to be liked and the gags in the film aren’t too complicated that a kid wouldn’t understand. The voice cast is an exceptional one that works so good together despite probably not even being in the same room together. Each actor provided a great performance and made you sympathize with each character. Probably some of the best interactions came between Hader and Forte. They were both over the top but in entirely different ways which balanced it out just right. Hader had a calm but excited demeanor and Forte was just so loud and “in your face” as the villainous Chester V. These two being SNL cast members I believe helped them in their performances. They do various characters every week so jumping into something like this had to have been somewhat similar. I loved every part of this movie and this will definitely be added to the stack of movies that will be on repeat at home. This is a MUST BUY!

The 3D:

I was so impressed by the 3D transfer of this film. The colors are vibrant in the 2D version of it and stay just as vibrant in the 3D version as well as there being no drop in image clarity at all. Every scene stays immensely crisp as well as keeping the 1080p detail. There wasn’t too many of those “flying to the screen” moments but I think it was better suited that way because instead it gave you a fantastic 3D look at the island of Swallow Falls. The depths in the 3D images are phenomenal and really feel like you can reach into the scene. In the past Sony has done a great job at creating a beautiful at home 3D experience with their 3D Blu-ray releases and this really shows just how continuously better they’re getting.
