The Movie:

Robinson (Jude Law) is a rogue submarine captain who, after being laid off from a salvage company, pulls together a misfit crew to go after a sunken treasure rumored to be lost in the depths of the Black Sea. As the captain and his crew embark on their expedition, greed and desperation take control on board their claustrophobic vessel – and the increasing uncertainty of the mission causes the men to turn on each other and fight for their own survival.

This film was quite interesting. I don’t think that I have ever seen or heard of a submarine heist film before in my life. It sets up the film within the first 15 minutes or so which got us straight to the point. From there the film is really well paced and keeps the tension very high throughout the entire way. Law is quite amazing in this film. His performance is powerful and intense with his character gaining a bit of a conscious at one point. Law has shown that he can play every type of role there is and can do it really well. The scenes is the submarine we some of the best close quarters and claustrophobic scenes even if they weren’t intentionally meant to be that way. Just the fact that they were in a sub and under water makes me panicky just thinking about it. All of the crew aboard the sub create a big dysfunctional element that just gets worse and worse. The finale of the film pays off quite well and is heartbreaking but at the same time very hopeful so it wraps everything up nicely. 8/10
