The Movie:

After a weekend of partying with stolen money, three Texas teens (Jeremy Allen White, Logan Huffman, and Mackenzie Davis) find themselves indebted to a sociopathic criminal named Giff (Mark Pellegrino). To pay their debt, Giff forces the teens to steal from his boss, a money-laundering gangster named Big Red (William Devane). Things go from bad to worse when betrayal, distrust, and corruption complicate an already dangerous plan.

I had never heard of this film at all so I was going in blind (which most of the times is the best thing to do) and wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m from Texas so right away I thought that maybe they would go the stereotypical route of showcasing the state (you know, horses cowboy hats and thick accents) but thankfully they did nothing of the sort. What they did show was a really authentic look at Texas teens in a somewhat rural area. They all had hard labor jobs, they ate at Whataburger (every Texan knows what I’m talking about) and they just did what typical teens do. The thing that I didn’t expect was that it turned out to be a fantastic heist movie with a group of extremely talented actors. White, Huffman and Davis all gave phenomenal performances in my opinion and this looks to be one of my favorite films of 2015 so far. It had everything that one could ask for to grab your attention. There was best friends on the outs, deception, murder, theft and so much more to make this a film that had my eyes glued to the screen the entire time. There were some nice twists and turns in the film that really made this enjoyable to watch. That just goes to show that sometimes the best movies are the ones that may fly under the radar from time to time. This is a MUST SEE!

Bad Turn Worse is available NOW on DVD from Anchor Bay Entertainment
