The Movie:

Frank Vega (Danny Trejo) and Bernie Pope (Danny Glover) travel to Louisiana to attend the wedding of their dear friend Carmen Gutierrez (Loni Love). But the trip that they anticipated as a weekend escape to the South turns violent as madness and mayhem ensue, pressing our senior heroes to once again serve justice.

These films are a guilty pleasure of mine I must admit. Trejo is and always has been a complete ass kicker and any movie that he’s in is complete fun. The Bad Ass franchise is one of those sets of films that is what it is. It’s action, comedy and a non-thinking mans movie which is always needed every now and then. The story is more of a situational narrative than anything else and certain things happen out of sheer convenience but the key to enjoying this film is to let it be what it is and just roll with it. Glover and John Amos provide some pretty great support to the film and they play off each other like a couple of friends would. Yes, it can get cheesy at times but I was entirely okay with that. My only thought is that with this being the third entry and with each film they add someone new, are they going to end up with an Avengers type team up film eventually? It would be quite the idea. This isn’t by any means the best film out there but it really is pretty fun if you allow it to be so I will recommend this movie but only watch it if you’re in “that” kind of mood. 6/10
