The Movie:
A young couple who — after being separated by loss — discover an eternal connection and a love that is infinite.
It’s been a very long time that a film has impacted me in a certain way. It’s a haunting (no pun intended) and emotional film that hit me right in the gut. Let me start off by saying that I’m an empathetic movie watcher and this is even more true when it comes to dramas. I absorb emotions and tend to put myself in the shoes of certain characters and this movie made me do that almost immediately. There’s not much dialogue in the film and to be able to garner a response from me without people conversing is a very impressive thing to do. I’ve seen many people complain about this film and I will just say that it’s not going to be a movie for everybody. There are many scenes with lingering moments and pauses but while watching the film it’s very easy to see that those moments (as weird or awkward as they may be) are there for you to soak in and experience the emotions going through the characters. It was those scenes that were also very heartbreaking to me. If you’re a spouse, parent or have even found love at some point in your life I think this film will hit a spot within you that you never thought it would and that includes a monologue that left me speechless. I don’t really want to give too many details about the film because this is one that you’ll want to experience yourself. This is definitely one of my favorite movies of the year so far and I really don’t like making those kind of claims so go out and pick this one up as soon as you can. It’s such an interesting movie and something that is so “off the beaten path” that it’s sure to grab your attention. 10/10
Special Features:
“A Ghost Story and the Inevitable Passing of Time” Featurette – A great feature that looks at the creation of the film and how the idea came about.
Deleted Scene – Only one scene that was understandably cut. Looks like it would’ve confused things a little.
“A Composer’s Story” Featurette – A look at the music in the film and just how important it is to a film like this.
