The Movie:

Dean Ambrose plays Shaw, a detective who returns to active duty after the death of his partner. When he uncovers evidence linking his fellow officers to a murder, they frame him for a homicide he didn’t commit. Trapped in his own precinct, Shaw will do whatever it takes to expose the dirty cops and clear his name. With twelve rounds in the clip and one shot at redemption, nothing will stand in Shaw’s way.

Much like all the other WWE Films features this sequel has the same feel of 90’s action movies and that’s not a bad thing. They’re are some of my guilty pleasures and I will admit that without a shred of embarrassment. There is something that feels legitimate about an action actor that is known for being thrown around a wrestling ring and can actually do stunts of his own. It makes it that much more enjoyable in my opinion. Now, I will admit that it doesn’t have the best story BUT I do feel like it is a fresh take on the 12 Rounds franchise. The previous films had a “Saw” like quality to them with a mastermind calling all the shots from an undisclosed location where the protagonist had to go through “12 Rounds” of trials. This film however abandons that aspect and goes for the more Die Hard-esque scenario with him only having 12 rounds left in his gun going up against a crazy amount of people. Ambrose surprisingly fit into the role of a hard edged cop really easily and he definitely looked the part of an action star. His acting chops weren’t all that bad either. My biggest complaint about the film was the fact that Shaw, throughout the entire firefight, didn’t manage to pick up any more extra ammo or guns from the bad guys that he’s taken down. All he seemed to do was keep counting the rounds in his gun. Besides that I thought the movie was good for what it was. Will it win any awards? No. BUT it does satisfy my action movie needs in a certain way. 6/10

Special Features:

Resourceful Adversary – An overview at the story and a look at Ambrose and his performance.
